I think that it is important for students around the world to study the crusades in school because, they need know that no clear line between good and evil, that the crusades did not entirely happen because of religion and finally to learn from a non-bias viewpoint.
The first reason it is important to study the crusades, is because, they need know that no clear line between good and evil and very rarely in history will a person be entirely good or entirely bad, so, it is very important to understand that both sides did bad things for different reasons. For example, after getting paid a ransom from Saladin, Richard the Lionheart still executed his prisoners of war. Therefore, it is good to cover the crusades in history learning.
Secondly, they need to know that the crusades did not entirely happen because of religion, and that politics was a big aspect in these events. For example, Europe was not doing well economically and there was not enough land in Europe for the people, this is why they invaded the Middle-East.
Finally, it is very important that students learn from a non-bias viewpoint as majority Muslim and Christian books both have a favoring bias to their side, e.g. Christian children books at the time featured the crusades as a brave, humble, noble entourage and Saladin's secretary wrote accounts which were embellished and exaggerated.
In conclusion it is very important to study the crusades in school and all that is left to be said it thank you for reading!
